Files And Folders

These scripts work with and manipulate files and folders.

 Change Read Only Attributes
This vbs script finds all the folders in a particular directory and will change the Read Only attribute (currently set to off).  This script can be modified to put the attribute on also.

 Copy Folder & Files
This package not only contains a vbs script for copying a folder and its contents, but also a script for copying a file to a particular location.

 Find Specified Files
This package contains two scripts.  Filescan.vbs will continually run and monitor for a removable drive being attached to the computer.  When it is, it will then scan the disk for a particular file and extension and currently delete it.  Find Specified File.vbs will simply do the locating of a particular file from a folder.

 Move Files Based on Criteria
This package contains the original vbs script from Microsoft's 'Hey Scripting Guy' that will examine a file's creation date and see if it matches or is past a date specified by the user.  If it is it will delete it.  Also in this package is a HTA for moving files to a backup folder based on the same user input date.

NetShareMonitor An excellent security tool from this website. It will give you a complete log of who accessed what file and folder and at what time on any share the computer is hosting.  Included in this package is a Powershell script created to filter the log file NetShareMonitor creates to look for a particular string, for example a username or filename.

PS - Find files & move maintaining hierarchy !!Top Rated!! - This Powershell script recursively searches a directory looking for a specific file type.  It then moves the files that match the criteria to an alternate location but recreates the folder structure in the new location so that any file can be moved back to where it came from easily.  This script was created in response to Students playing Flash based games.  Not knowing what was a legitimate Flash file or not this was our solution.  We then gave Staff the rights to access where the files had been moved to and restore any legitmate items. (Requires Powershell Version 2) Check out these Forum posts for a better understanding of the construction of the script.

Rename Folders The purpose of this script is to scan a directory and rename folders to a desired name.
